Boyce Thompson Arboretum is located in the Sonoran Desert and is home to a variety of lush desert gardens, which all have a considerable degree of seasonal beauty for you to experience. This makes visiting at any time of the year advantageous for visitors who are both local and from around the globe.

Its 392 acres, 3,900 different plant species, 3 miles of trails are only an hour from downtown Phoenix. Boyce Thompson Arboretum is one of the best places to experience the beauty of nature.

As you approach the Arboretum on Highway 60, you will see towering Picketpost Mountain dominating the southern horizon. The Arboretum brings together plants from the planet’s many varied deserts and dry lands displaying them alongside unspoiled examples of the native Sonoran Desert vegetation.

Boyce Thompson Arboretum operates on alternate hours spring thru summer, and fall thru winter.
It is recommended visitors arrive two or more hours before closing in order to see the gardens.

May – September 6 AM – 3 PM
October – April 8 AM – 5 PM (Closed Christmas Day)

General Admission is $15, Children ages 5-12 is $5
